Cops rescue 62 cows in Godhra; man arrested

Godhra police rescued 62 cows from a farm in Wanankpur and arrested a man on Saturday.The man identified as Irfan Guniya was fleeing from the spot after he was spotted by the police.

VADODARA: Godhra police rescued 62 cows from a farm in Wanankpur and arrested a man on Saturday. The man identified as Irfan Guniya was fleeing from the spot after he was spotted by the police. The cows that were to be traded to slaughter houses were rescued after police received a tip-off.
The police got information that some cows were brought by Syed Daulati, who owned the farm, for selling to slaughter houses.
When the cops reached the spot, a person identified as Mohan Bariya told them that he was staying on the farm owned by Daulati for the last one year.
When the cops were talking with Bariya, they noticed a man identified as Irfan Guniya fleeing from the farm with some cows. They intercepted Guniya and questioned him. He admitted that the cows were to be taken to slaughter houses. Guniya had kept the cows in pitiable condition and didn't feed them water and fodder. Guniya also admitted that Daulati had purchased the cows. During interrogation, Guniya also said that the cattle were transported in vehicles in pitiable condition by Daulati.
The police also seized two mobiles phones and a motorcycle amounting to Rs 22,500 from the accused. The police recovered several bills from Guniya in connection with the transactions of the cattle under various names. Daulati is yet to be arrested by the police.
Out of 62 animals that were rescued 14 were cows, four bulls, and 44 calves. While the cows were worth Rs 3,000 each, the bulls were priced at Rs 2,500 each. The cattle were worth Rs 1.33 lakh.
