Rohit Shetty turns actor for R Balki

They have absolutely nothing in common as far as cinematic sensibilities go, but filmmaker Rohit Shetty will be seen in R Balki's upcoming film, 'Shamitabh'. Mirror has learnt that Balki has roped in the 'Chennai Express' director for a cameo appearance in the Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush starrer which is nearing completion.

Revealed a source in the film's unit, “It was only one day's work and Rohit gamely agreed.He will be playing himself in the film." Interestingly, the film features an ensemble cast of directors, including Rajkumar Hirani, Anurag Basu, Gauri Shinde, Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Confirming the same, Balki said, “We wanted a prominent director for the role and who better than Rohit Shetty. I am a big fan of all his movies." But will Shetty be blowing up cars in the film? “I'd like that but no, we aren't blowing up anything. But I can assure you that it will surprise people,“ said Balki refusing to reveal any details.

Set for a February 2015 release, Shamitabh will also mark the Bollywood debut of Kamal Haasan's younger daughter, Akshara.
