Stepfather held for raping 9-yr-old
A30-year old man was arrested by Wadala TT police on Sunday for allegedly raping his nine-year-old stepdaughter. According to the police, the girl’s mother was aware of the crime but did not report it thinking the accused would be arrested. She finally filed a complaint on Sunday because the harassment didn’t stop.
“The accused works as a driver. For the past six months, he has been raping the minor when her mother was not at home. The girl narrated the incident to her mother, but initially she was reluctant to file a complaint. The girl’s biological father has left them,” said Suhas Garud, Senior PI, Wadala TT police station.
“The girl studies in Class IV at a local school. The accused has been arrested,” added Garud. A case has been registered against the accused for rape, unnatural sex, criminal intimidation and sections 4, 5 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
