Triangular fights in Hingna, Umred and Katol
NAGPUR: So far, NCP ex-minister Anil Deshmukh has had a smooth sailing in his political career. However, this time he may have a tough fight on his hands. The reason is that his nephew Ashish is contesting against him and Shiv Sena candidate Rajendra Harne is taking advantage of it. The three are locked in a triangular fight and NCP insiders say the margin of the winner may not be very high.

In Hingna too it seems to be triangular fight even though four known faces – Ramesh Bang (NCP), Prakash Jadhav (Sena), Sameer Meghe (BJP) and Kunda Raut (Congress) – are in fray. Political experts say that Raut is not in the race and the fight is essentially between the first three.
The straight fight between sitting MLA Sudhir Parwe of BJP and Sanjay Meshram of Congress has become a triangular one because a large number of Congressmen are supporting an Independent Raju Parwe. BJP claims that the sitting MLA would sail through comfortably. Some Congress leaders concede this.
In Katol many people of Deshmukh clan, who are unhappy with Anil Deshmukh are now ready to vote for Ashish. This division of votes will help Harne.
In Hingna, Bang may have a slight upperhand due to two reasons. One is that all his three main rivals are from the dominant Kunbi community and hence their community vote will get split. Secondly, voters are angry with BJP MLA Vijay Ghodmare’s performance.
However, if Kunbi vote consolidates in favour of either Jadhav or Meghe then Bang will not have an easy sailing. Meghe is financially strong but a political novice. He wanted to contest from Nagpur West but was asked to jump into the fray from Hingna. Jadhav is a proven mass leader but lacks financial backing.
