PSV Eindhoven pulled two points clear at the Eredivisie summit as fellow high-fliers Ajax and PEC Zwolle cancelled each other out.

Goals from Adam Maher and Luciano Narsingh in the first half and Jurgen Locadia six minutes after the interval gave PSV a comfortable sixth win in their opening eight games, 3-0 against Excelsior.

They could even afford the dismissal of Holland defender Jeffrey Bruma on the hour as the visitors could find no reply.

PSV, Ajax and Zwolle had all gone into the weekend level on 15 points but the latter pair lost ground, Zwolle proving their mettle by holding the four-time reigning champions to a goalless draw at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Feyenoord enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 win against 10-man Groningen.

Colin Kazim-Richards opened the scoring in the first half and after Johan Kappelhof was sent off, Lex Immers quickly made it 2-0 and late goals from Jean-Paul Boetius and Mitchell te Vrede extended the winning margin.

AZ and FC Twente drew 2-2 in Alkmaar. Robert Muhren gave the hosts the lead and though Kyle Ebecilio and Hakim Ziyech swung the game Twente's way, substitute Muamer Tankovic scored a late equaliser.
