A torso of a man aged around 30 was found in a gunny bag near Ayyappa Temple in Kalasipalya here on Friday night.

Passersby found stray dogs trying to take away a blood soaked gunny bag from the garbage dump site on K.M. Road. They noticed the torso of a man in the gunny bag and informed the police.

Police rushed to the spot, recovered the torso and severed legs from another gunny bag, and sent it to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination. The head and hands have not been found.

Police are verifying data of missing complaints to identify the victim. They suspect that the assailants might have cut off the hands and head of the body to conceal the victim’s identity. “They might have murdered him elsewhere and dumped the torso here,” said a police officer.
