Patwari booked for accepting bribe

JAMMU, Oct 4:  A Patwari was today caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20000 by a vigilance team in Samba.
According to the reports, Krishan Chand resident of Village Bakhana Chak, tehsil and district Samba registered a complaint in Vigilance Organization, Jammu, (VOJ) alleging therein that Patwari Halqa Durai, Samba has demanded Rs 60,000 as illegal gratification from him for entering mutation of 2 ½ Marlas of land purchased by him at Mananu located at Nud-Mansar Road.
Accordingly, under the supervision of Nisha Natyal, SSP, SK VOJ a team was constituted, which was headed by Zulfqar Ahmad, Deputy SP and Inspector Rajesh Kumar.
Today, the vigilance team laid a trap and apprehended Vipan Kumar, Patwari, Halqa Durai, tehsil and district Samba, with the bribe money which he had taken from the complainant.
A case FIR No 25/2014 u/s 5(1) (d) J&K PC Act 2006 and 161 RPC has been registered against the accused at Police Station, VOJ and he was arrested.
