He goes to mosque at the call of Azaan. The bell of temple also attracts him.
Mohamad Ali, a resident of Jaitapur is a devout Muslim and an ardent devotee of Goddess. He is engaged in maintenance of Durga temple for about a decade. Other members of his family too visit the temple to receive the blessing of Maa Durga. For him, Azaan and Durga Stuti hold equal importance.
Ghhor Devi temple is located on the banks of Ghaghra River in Bahraich. This is the place where ‘Ishwar Allah’ bhajan of
Mahatma Gandhi can be heard. Muslim and Hindus perform puja here with devotion. The temple is about 250 years old. About a decade ago, there used to be a small temple of Maa Durga here. Ali got involved in the worship of Maa Durga and the development of temple. He also inspired
friends of his community to assist him in his mission. Gradually, a huge temple was built here.
Last year, with the help of the people, he started construction of a Hanuman temple there. Seeing his devotion towards Maa Durga, other people of his community were also encouraged to join him. A retired
teacher, Ali says that he does not see any difference between Ishwar and Allah. He said that the
women of his family keep fast of Navratra and performs Puja.
