Roundup: Silver Lake boys’ soccer gets back on track

Coming off rare back-to-back losses in which they scored just one goal, the Silver Lake boys’ soccer team entered October looking to revive its offense.

If the first week is any indication, practice makes perfect.

After dispatching Hingham, 3-1, Thursday, the 11th-ranked Lakers had another strong offensive outing, beating host Plymouth South, 3-0, on Friday in a Patriot League contest.

Collin Lambert and Brendan Guilderson got Silver Lake (9-2-1) started with first-half goals. Pat Hutchinson sealed the victory with a strike in the second half.

Silver Lake was undefeated in the regular season last fall.

Essex Tech 5, Cathedral 0 — Collin Sedgwick had his first varsity goal and Matt Page had two assists.

Chelsea 4, Lynn Tech 0 — Sophomore Denilson DePina led the attack for the Red Devils with a hat trick.

Dighton-Rehoboth 5, Apponequet 3 — Senior striker Victor DaCosta had three goals and an assist for the Falcons (5-4-1)

Milton Academy 4, St. Sebastian’s 0 — Juniors Jerry Ozor and Adam Branson scored two goals apiece for the Mustangs.

Hingham 3, North Quincy 0 — Oliver Murray-Brown, Drew Hickey, and captain Clark Ricciardelli provided goals for the Harbormen (4-5-1).

Snowden 4, West Roxbury 1 — Sophomore Ramsay Jeanjuste had two goals for the Cougars.

Falmouth 1, Marshfield 1 — Jack Palmstram scored in the first half for the Rams and Xavier Santa Maria tied it for the Clippers early in the second half.

Masconomet 3, Somerville 2 — The No. 4 Chieftains (11-0) built a 3-0 lead then held off a comeback attempt by the Highlanders.

Nauset 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 1 — Willy Boyd scored two goals to lead the 12th-ranked Warriors (8-2).

Greater Lowell 4, Keefe Tech 0 — Matheus Ferreira scored two goals off set pieces for the Gryphons (6-0-2).

Carver 3, Rockland 2 — Junior forward Kenzie Bellando had two goals for the Crusaders (6-2-1)

Sacred Heart 3, Norfolk Aggie 2 — The Lady Saints had three unanswered second-half goals - sophomore Bridget LeBlanc had two and freshman Sam Baston notched the winner.

Brooks 2, Middlesex 1 — Sophomores Mia Karras and Kennedy Pounds scored for Brooks.

Governor’s Academy 2, BB&N 1 — Freshman Jenna Tivnan and sophomore Lily Harris scored for the Govs (5-1).

Hull 2, Fontbonne 0 — Senior Alexa Perez and sophomore Caitlin Ryan scored for the Pirates.

Marshfield 2, Falmouth 0 — Taylor Noonan and Jill Palanian scored for Marshfield.

Hingham 4, North Quincy 0 — Sophomore Eve Hewins had a hat trick for No. 8 Hingham (10-0-1).

Mystic Valley 1, Greater Lowell 0 — Junior Meghan Foley scored from 35 yards out late in the second half for the Eagles, and Bryanna Cimetti had seven saves.

Silver Lake 2, Plymouth South 1 — Freshman Allie Crawford had a goal for the Lakers.

Medford 5, Framingham 3 — Senior Korey O'Rourke (three goals) and Gigi Braga (two goals) paced the Mustangs.

Seekonk 2, Case 0 — Goalkeeper Madison Silva made 10 saves for the Warriors.

East Bridgewater 2, Bridgewater-Raynham 1 — Trailing, 1-0, at the half, the Vikings (7-1-2) prevailed thanks to two goals from sophomore Sarah Lofstrom.

Tyngsborough 2, Lowell Catholic 1 — Jenna Durkin scored on a penalty kick and assisted on a goal by Olivia Notini to lead the host Tigers (5-4-1). Shannon Cole made 10 saves for Tyngsboro.

Lawrence Academy 3, St. George’s 0 — Tate Jordan had two goals for the Spartans.

Field hockey

Pentucket 3, Georgetown 0 — Junior Alyssa Bartula scored a hat trick for the Sachems.

Lynnfield 2, North Reading 0 — Bailey Fanikos scored her 17th goal of the season as the No. 10 Pioneers (10-0-2) remain undefeated.

Bourne 6, Case 0 — Sophomore Audrey Kelleher had her second hat trick of the season and junior Dani Rolfe added two goals.

Newton Country Day 7, Lexington Christian 0 — Junior Hannah Barton had a hat trick for Newton Country Day (3-0-1)

Masconomet 1, Manchester Essex 0 — Sophie Adams scored in the second half for the Chieftains (6-0-5).

Apponequet 3, Seekonk 0 — Alanah Pacheco’s first-period goal set the tone for the Lakers (9-2).

Boys’ golf

Sandwich 232, Falmouth 239 — Junior Mithran Denbow shot a 35 (+1) to lead the Blue Knights (5-4) at Woods Hole Golf Club. Sophomore Nolan Enneguess shot a 38 (+4) for Clippers (7-5).

Newburyport 139, Winthrop 125 — Cam Rogers was the medalist with 29 points to lead the Clippers.

Girls’ swimming

Andover 94, Lowell 84 — Sophomore Jenna Bukowski won the 500-yard freestyle as the Golden Warriors (7-0) handed the Raiders (5-1) their first loss. Haley Nolan won both the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle events for Lowell.

Haverhill 98, North Andover 80 — Sophomore Mikayla Sargent won three events in the Hillies’ victory.

Girls’ volleyball

Case 3, Seekonk 0 — Jenna Santerre had 10 kills, 10 digs, 4 aces, and 2 blocks for for the No. 13 Cardinals (12-1).

Apponequet 3, Dighton-Rehoboth 0 — Senior Amanda LaCroix had 13 kills and sophomore Shawna Walker had 28 assists for the Lakers.

Swampscott 3, Revere 1 — Gina Asipenko had nine aces and 18 kills for the Big Blue.
