Patna stampede: Home Ministry seeks report from Bihar govt, relatives hold protest ​

• With opposition BJP leaders flaying the state government on the stampede which left 32 dead and 26 injured, a senior minister said responsibility would be fixed on the guilty after a probe.
• Angry over the incident, hundred of people, including relatives of those killed and seriously injured, protested against the administration at Ramghulam square near Gandhi Maidan and outside the Patna Medical College and Hospital, where all injured were admitted for treatment.

• Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tonight spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi about the stampede in Patna which left 32 people dead after the Dussherra celebrations, sources said.
  Singh is understood to have sought a report from the state government on the incident. 
• CCTV footage outside Gandhi maidan to be examined to ascertain cause of stampede, as per reports.
• Eyewitnesses quoted by TV news channels said that the stampede started after word spread through the crowd that an electrical wire had snapped off and fallen down.
• Bihar CM announces compensation of Rs 3 lakhs to next of kin of dead. Rs 50,000 to seriously injured & Rs 20,000 to injured.
• Paswan, MP from Bihar, will be visiting the state tomorrow to take stock of the situation.
• Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan expresses sadness over the incident and attacked the JD(U) government in Bihar for allegedly failing to put in place measures to prevent the tragedy.

• Home Minister Rajnath Singh witnesses burning of the effigy of 'Ravana' at Lav Kush Ramlila Committee in Delhi. 
• "A 40-feet high black-robed effigy of drugs was set up and burnt along with effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhkaran so that the state could get rid of evil of drugs and intoxicants, plaguing youths of Punjab," said Darshan Lal Dharamshot, Chairman of Maharana Partap Kala Manch Dussehra Committee, PTI reported.

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to the nation on Dusshera.

  Modi today also addressed the countrymen over radio for the first time, giving a pep talk about how to shed despondency and use their skills for betterment and prosperity of the country.

  PM's speech on the state-run All India Radio (AIR) was praised by many people with some describing it as "inspiring".

  Modi touched upon various issues in his 15-minute address - 'Man ki baat' - which he promised to do twice in a month on Sundays.

  "His speech was really mesmerising and inspiring," Aditya Jaiswal, an IT student tweeted.

  "It was a small speech of only about 15 minutes aired on AIR but was a simple, crisp and clear message to rural Bharat," Ranga Nathaathan, a blog writer tweeted.

  Govind Kini from Bangalore supported Modi who urged people to buy khadi products.

  "Trust me no brand can match the comfort of khadi clothes," Kini tweeted.

  KSM Sundara, an IT professional, found Modi's narration of a fable as "relevant". 

  "He (Modi) told a relevant story about lioness and cubs," Sundara tweeted.

  Rachel White, Mumbai-based model, appreciated the prime minister's initiative, calling it cool and tweeted that her love and respect has increased for Modi.
