JAISALMER : In January 2012, bodies of three unidentified persons were recovered from the Indira Gandhi canal in Jaisalmer. The bodies were buried at that time without verification. Now, the Rajasthan high court has directed the CBI to exhume the bodies and get the post mortem done by a medical board. Following the court order, CBI has requested the Jaisalmer district collector.
In January 2012, three persons were reported missing in Sriganganagar and CBI started an investigation with a view to find out if the three bodies found in Indira Gandhi canal were the missing persons.
On January 18, 2012, a case was registered for kidnapping Rajeshwari and Nitin, residents of F Choti Sau wala of Ganganagar, with Sadar police in Gangangar. After a police investigation, the case was handed over to CBI and the case is with the high court after a petition was filed.
District collector N L Meena confirming the court order, said he has received a copy of the order to exhume the bodies and a medical examination done by forensic experts.
He said that after the CBI request, he has directed Mohangarh police station to dig out the bodies buried between RD 156, 155 and 175 and get the medical examination done. He has also directed Jaisalmer CMHO to depute forensic experts and doctors for the post mortem. If no forensic expert is available in Jaisalmer, the CMHO can inform the matter to the collector so that an expert could be called from the Jodhpur medical college.
