Numbers13:33b. "And we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in theirs"

The world sees us exactly the way we see ourselves.  Our perception of both ourselves and the world around us plays a very big role in how far we get in our pursuits and aspirations.

The Israelites in the above passage were literally on the verge of making it into the promised land and a whole generation lost out because of a faulty perception.

So here are a few tips on how to harness the power of perception:

1. Realise that there's always two sides to every story and familiarise yourself with both. Remember you haven't argued a case until you have argued it from the other person's side.

2. Decide to be objective and open-minded. You might be unknowingly missing out on certain aspects of the facts.

3. Make a conscious effort to see the world through other people's eyes; it will give you a better idea of where they are coming from.
