After the Indian Premier Tennis League, comes Vijay Amritraj’s Champions Tennis League. The league to be launched in November, boasts of a first-time sports team owner, Mittu Chandilya, CEO of AirAsia.

Chandilya, who has invested in the team in his personal capacity, will own the Bengaluru team, the name of which is as yet undecided.

When asked about the association, Chandilya said that his wife Inga would mostly be managing the team’s day-to-day affairs. Inga (in pic), who holds an MBA degree like her husband, “gave up her job as regional CFO for a leading MNC” when the couple moved back to India. Since tennis excites them both, Chandilya says it warranted the purchase.
