Bomb threat compels Claret School in QC to suspend classes




(Updated 12:20 p.m.) Claret School of Quezon City on Thursday morning sent students home after the school received a bomb threat.
 
In a phone interview with GMA News Online, SPO4 Victor de Leon of the Quezon City Police District said they received information about the threat at around 9 a.m.
 
De Leon said no bombs were found in the campus, but confirmed classes were indeed suspended.
 
In his tweets to GMA News's YouScoop, student Christian Zakery Adrineda said the student moderator "made us evacuate immediately."
 
"May bomb squad car po na dumating, nasa loob po ng school ngayon and is now searching," he said at around 11 a.m.
 
 
Adrineda also tweeted a photo of students in the gym, where they are were made to stay and wait for their parents or guardians to pick them up.
 
 
A separate tweet from Aica Chanliongco, mother of two students, showed a text message sent by Claret School to parents:

One student said they were initially told it was a fire drill when they were asked to evacuate their classrooms.


 
The 47-year-old private Catholic school, located in UP Village in Diliman, hosts pre-school, elementary, and secondary departments.
 
It accepts both male and female students for its pre-school department, while its grade school and high school units are exclusive for boys. VS, GMA News
