Anantapur: Opposition parties across villages are banking on the ruling party’s Janmabhoomi and Maa Vuru to highlight the latter’s failures and make a pitch for their respective parties.
With the TD government scheduled to begin Janmabhoomi and Maa Vuru from October 2, the YSRC gave a call to its party cadres to take part in the programme and question the government officials about the implementation of its pre-poll promises.
Most of the YSRC MLAs are from Kadapa and Kurnool districts would take part in the programme to protest the failure of the government in its 120-days of ruling.
YSRC district convener for Anantapur Shankarnarayana pointed out that the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had clearly failed to enforce the various schemes listed in the election manifesto.
Referring to the reduction in rations cards, old age pensions and welfare schemes, the YSRC lea-der said party activists would participate in all the villages.
“We would attend with lists of beneficiaries at the meetings, as the TD government is selecting beneficiaries from among party workers and denying genuine people.”
Uravakonda MLA Visweswar Reddy alleged that weeding out of cards and pensions was a ploy to target YSRC party cadres.
He accused the government for failing to waive of crop loans and DWACRA women group loans.
Not to be left behind, the Congress too has planned to take advantage of the Janmabhoomi and Maa Vuru programme to rebuild the party’s image and position from the grassroots level by countering both ruling TD and opposition YSRC.
APCC president N. Rag-huveera Reddy directed his party men to use the platform to not just question but compare successful implementation of welfare schemes during his party’s rule with that of the TD government’s dismal performance.
The APCC chief would also take part in the Gram Sabha at his native village of Neelakanta-puram in Madakasira mandal of Anantapur district on October 17.
The CPI district secretary K. Jagadish also disclosed his party workers intent to stage protests from October 3 district-wide to mount pressure on the government to implement waiver of farm loans and SHG women’s loans.
