GANDHINAGAR: The Centre has approved six new national highways - a total distance of 805km - for Gujarat. The state government's spokesperson and state road & buildings department minister Nitin Patel said that 165km-long highway number 68 will now connect Radhanpur, Patan, Mehsana.
Another highway is for connectivity between Bhimasar junction, Anjar, Bhuj, Khavda and Dharamshala road covering 163.7km.
A 106-km highway from Ahwa to the Maharashtra border till Pipalgam and another from Dhoraji to Jamnagar via Kalavad covering a distance of 103.09 km have also been included in the national highway network.
Patel added that four laning of the highway between Veraval to Somnath is underway at a cost of Rs 828 crore while the Junagadh-Keshod-Somnath stretch is likely to be ready by March 2015. He added, "For the Bhavnagar-Somnath-Veraval route, of 277km long national highway, a total Rs 2,415.22 crore has been sanctioned by the central government."
