Kendrick Lamar Performs With Prince in Minneapolis
Minneapolis got a visit from Compton last night (Sept. 30) courtesy of Kendrick Lamar. The rapper joined Prince on stage at a Yahoo! Music livestream event celebrating the release of the 56-year-old’s two new albums, Art Official Age and PlectrumElectrum with 3RDEYEGIRL.
The night was centered around Prince’s Paisley Park studio, giving viewers an inside look at the 65,000 square foot facility in addition to interviews with some of his collaborators. Prince took the stage later for a 20-minute set and Lamar jumped in to add a new verse to “What’s My Name,” from the Purple One’s 1998 Crystal Ball box set.
Prince and Lamar have more collaborations in the vault. An engineer reportedly teased one of the songs earlier in the night.
