Chiru to play a vigilante
The K M Chaitanya-directed film, which deals with the explosion of 24/7 news, will be shot in Bangalore, Kerala & a remote island

Chiranjeevi Sarja’s new film will show him as a vigilante and “almost a superhero”. The flick to be directed by KM Chaitanya is produced by Yogish Dwarakish who after reading the script decided to hike the proposed budget five times. The yet-to-be-titled film will start rolling late October and most of the film will be shot in an island.

Confirming the development, Chaitanya said, “The script of the film was developed by my friend Kannan Parameshwar. All my films have been with new producers and non-industry non-professional producers so far. This was a very ambitious project, and I knew it would be a high-budget film. So it was difficult to find a producer who would invest on such a scale. It was Parameshwar who got me in touch with Yogish. Yogish took two days to read the bound script and agreed to produce it. In his hands, the film has become much bigger than what I had ever envisioned. It will be a different experience for me too.”

The film will become the costliest ever film for Chiru.

On the film, Chaitanya said, “There are 10 main characters in the film. I needed 10 good actors. Ten established actors rather than 10 big stars. Yogish decided that the film will be a multi-starrer. As of now, the cast that has been finalised which include Chiru, Meghana Raj, Parul Yadav, Prakash Belavadi and Sharath Lohitashava.”

The film will deal with the emergence of 24/7 news media. “It is an unusual thriller. It is a vigilante film, but the leading man is not really a superhero. A vigilante need not be a superhero. But he will be the one who can bring a social change. It deals with the explosion of 24/7 news,” he said. A part of the film will be shot in Bangalore and Kerala while a substantial portion will be shot in an island. “It will be either Sri Lanka, the Andamans or Maldives,” says Chaitanya.

Chiru has played action roles before, but this will be the first time he will have something of a larger-than-life image role.
