Jetpur-Keshod-Somnath stretch of Somnath-Bhavnagar highway to complete by March 2015:GoG

Construction of Jetpur-Keshod-Somnath stretch of national highway connecting Somnath and Bhavnagar will be completed by March – 2015 according to Gujarat government’s spokesperson minister Nitinbhai Patel.
In a statement, Nitin Patel said that four laning work of national highway connecting Veraval/Somnath is going on at cost of Rs. 828 crore. The National Highway Authority of India(NHAI) is implementing the project which is likely to be completed so far as Junagadh-Kedhod-Somnath stretch is in question.
He said the national highway 8E connecting Bhavnagar and Somnath is very important. Its construction was delayed for various reasons. Gujarat government’s road and building department had requested Government of India to resume the task immediately. In this reference, recently NHAI has approved three sections of this project through EPC method. This includes Rs. 908.64 crore for 94 km road in Bhavnagar-Mahuva section, Rs. 685.54 crore for Mahuva-Una 81 km section and Rs. 821 crore for 101 km Una-Veraval section.
At present, land acquisition process is undergoing wherever land acquisition is needed. This will followed by tender process. Rs. 2415.22 crore works for three national highway on 277 km Bhavnagar-Somnath-Veraval road will start soon.
