How Amal Alamuddin became everyone's favourite fashion crush

Seven months on, now it's the new Mrs Clooney's designer wardrobe that's bringing out the green-eyed monster - and that was before exclusive snaps of her dreamy Oscar de la Renta wedding gown hit the cover of Hello! magazine yesterday.

Here, we look at Amal's best fashion moments so far...

1. Snapped leaving a New York hotel with Clooney last March, the world's first glimpse at human-rights lawyer Amal proved she was more than just Gorgeous George's new girlfriend - dashing from desk to dinner with the help of a colourful coat and oversized clutch.

2. Newly engaged to the world's most eligible bachelor, Amal looked pretty in a pink shift dress while lunching with a pal in London earlier this year - but it was the Anglo-Lebanese beauty's mix and match heels that brought her to the attention of Planet Fashion.

3. Every working girl knows the importance of accessorising, and breezing to the office in April, the legal eagle jazzed up her ensemble with a statement necklace, huge handbag and oversized sunnies - not to mention the $750k diamond engagement ring that George had just given her.

4. Sixteen years her new husband's junior, off duty, the 36-year-old Amal isn't afraid to reveal her fun side either, swapping her usual professional look for a youthful bomber jacket, printed pants and bold brogues in the Big Apple earlier this year.

5. It was the night that George openly declared his love for his future wife, and finally making her red carpet debut  in a floor-sweeping black satin gown and gold earrings at Celebrity Fight Night in Italy earlier this month, we all fell a little bit in love with Amal, too.

6. Rehearsing for the big day in Venice, the stunning bride-to-be gave another tantalising glimpse of her red-carpet form in a scarlet waterfall frock by Alexander McQueen, practically pre-booking herself a spot on the best-dressed lists at next year's Oscars.

7. What's Amal got that the rest of us don't? Those legs, for a start, and the new Mrs Clooney wasn't shy about showing them off in a micro-mini Giambattista Valli number which divided the fashion world on Monday - but had the silver fox grinning from ear to ear.

8. She's been likened to screen icon Audrey Hepburn, and donning a cream Stella McCartney pant suit and wide-brimmed hat to make her marriage to Clooney official earlier this week, George's Fair Lady indeed looked like something from the movie's famous Ascot scene.
