When Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula called out Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema on his LV designer wear, we did a price check

EFF Commmander in Chief Julius Malema yesterday indulged in a twitter war with Mbalula over the way he dressed for his court date, after he was spotted wearing a black Louis Vuitton belt with a dapper navy blue suit, a crisp white shirt and a red tie.

This is not the first time he's been questioned over the double standard of donning a workers' overall in parliament the one day, and the next wearing expensive clothing and accessories when not in the public eye.

Malema has said on numerous occasions, however, that you can live extravagantly and demand social justice at the same time.

According to the designer's website, a South African wanting a Louis Vuitton belt will need to pay anything between R3,500-R35,000.

For a pair of shoes you pay anything between R9,000-R15,000, whilst Louis Vuitton ties range from R2000-R3700.

It's not affordable for most, but what's a couple of thousand rand to someone who could afford a Breitling watch valued at R250,000 at some point. Being revolutionary isn't what it used to be.
