Developer Crytek released a hefty update to the free-to-play military first-person shooter Warface, bringing a lot of improvements to the game's PC version.

The patch includes a lot of fixes, including a bunch of new maps and some gameplay refinements meant to enhance the online experience that players turn to the game for.

Crytek added three new Versus maps, in the form of the Airbase Team Deathmatch map, the Quarry Capture the Flag map, and the Streetwars Team Deathmatch map.

Additionally, the team also added a map inspired by the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, titled, of course, Grand Bazaar (a Team Deathmatch Map), and featuring a lot of lanterns, neon signs and plates for gamers to shoot and destroy, when they're not too busy gunning down opponents.

A more streamlined experience

Crytek also revised some of the gameplay mechanics in Warface, adding a new dynamic spawn system that is meant to balance respawn fatalities, keeping them to a minimum on the newly introduced maps.

Furthermore, the developers also made sure that players will get points for assists, increasing their total whenever they help a teammate take down an enemy, in both Versus and Coop modes.

In order to improve the overall player experience, the team also decided to allow all gamers access to all four of the different soldier classes in Warface right from the get-go, removing the need for players to play several games in order to unlock them.

The update, titled Nevada Storm, also enhances cooperative missions, with more missions to be featured in the China and Favela theaters, in rotation.

Even more, the amount of Clan Points that players earn for Co-op missions and Versus matches has been restored to the way it was before the September 10 update.

Many other improvements

The list of technical improvements also includes improved audio all across the board, in order to offer a more immersive in-game experience, as well as the option for players to disable in-game chat and simply focus on taking down as many enemies as possible.

Crytek is also determined to keep a level playing field, increasing its anti-cheat measures. Warface is the first title in Crytek's games-as-a-service portfolio, built on its proprietary CryEngine game engine.

The game was released a year ago for Windows PC, and in April this year, an Xbox 360 version also snuck on Xbox Live.
