Zulu inspired by Nomvethe

Cape Town - Chippa United striker David Zulu says he draws inspiration from Moroka Swallows veteran Siyabonga Nomvethe about his late introduction to international football.

The Chilli Boys marksman has made an incredible leap from being leading the goal-scoring charts in the second tier last season and getting his first call-up to the national team at the age of 28.

Zulu, who has been called up to the latest Bafana Bafana squad that will play against Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, says he is happy to buy his time before making his national team debut.

"Siyabonga might not have been in the Bafana Bafana team, but he still has energy to take on defenders," Zulu said.

"I worked hard to be in the national team and I'm working hard at training and I know my time will come to play.

"I'm not giving myself a time frame as this will put me under pressure. I want to prove my worth as a striker.”

"I’m here to help my country to succeed and I will only achieve this through scoring goals. I don't doubt my potential and I add another dimension in our strike force," he added.

Chippa face Polokwane City on Saturday, October 4 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the Telkom Knockout.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
