BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said despite cancellation of coal blocks by Supreme Court, state government will continue to supply 24x7 power under its flagship Atal Jyoti Abhiyan scheme.
"Coal is a major concern. Most coal block allocations have been quashed. We have to re-work parameters, but 24X7 power supply won't be hit," Chouhan said, while addressing a function on the occasion of raising minimum pension of Rs 1,000 under EPF pension scheme with effect from September 1.
Union minister for power and coal Piyush Goyal was also present. However, he did not comment on the SC order and its ramifications while talking to reporters.
Instead, he heaped praise on Chouhan and said Madhya Pradesh was on the road to fast-track growth. "The way Madhya Pradesh is progressing in fields of energy, agriculture, tourism and IT, I can say it will soon emerge as an ideal state. Development is remarkable considering the state the BJP government inherited from Congress," he said.
Chouhan also said the state would launch "Make in Madhya Pradesh" brand to promote generate employment. "We will make this the focus of upcoming Global Investors Summit (GIS) to be held at in Indore from October 8," he said.
He also invited Goyal for GIS 2014 on the concluding day. State government is trying to rope in a Union minister for the valedictory session of summit on October 10.
Talking about EPF's minimum pension scheme, Goyal said it was the idea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 100-day-old government aimed at benefitting one lakh families in MP alone. He also praised Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar for launching the scheme within 100 days of coming to power.
