CM reviews relief activities

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial ministers and secretaries will offer Eid prayers with affectees in flood-hit districts.
Presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Flood Relief on Tuesday, the chief minister said that the payment of first installment was being started from today, under the “Khadim-e-Punjab Imdadi Package”. He said that the payment of first installment of financial assistance was being started in 16 affected districts.
Shahbaz said that a foolproof system had been evolved for the distribution of financial assistance, under which, no deserving person would be deprived of his right. He said that best facilities had been provided at 78 centres for distribution of financial assistance in affected districts.
He also said that provincial ministers and secretaries would offer Eid prayers with affectees in flood-hit districts. Shahbaz directed that the head of Punjab Bank and officers should remain present in affected districts during the distribution so that the process could be completed in a better manner.
US State Department Advisor on Pakistan and Afghanistan Robin Raphel called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday. Matters of mutual interest, regional cooperation and bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting.
