Dylan Sellers is stepping down as the Weinstein Co.’s president of production, Variety has learned.
Details of Sellers’ exit have not been finalized.
The move comes less than two years after Sellers was tapped for the role of overseeing the creation of the indie label’s film slate.
The Weinstein Co. is gearing up for awards season and betting on films such as “St. Vincent,” “The Imitation Game” and “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” to return it to the Oscar hunt. It’s been a rough summer for the company, which saw “Begin Again” and “The Giver” underperform, and “Sin City 2,” which it distributed but didn’t finance, flop.
Before joining the studio, Sellers produced such films as “Passenger 57,” “Footloose” and the “Agent Cody Banks” series. He was also a senior production executive at Warner Bros.’ Unique Features, where he oversaw the company’s West Coast production and development arms.
He began his career as an entertainment attorney at O’Melveny & Myers.
