Prime Minister Narendra Modi may hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in Nepal in November, sources in the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday.

The MEA sources have indicated that India has told Pakistan it is interested in substantive talks and not just a photo-op. Pakistan must stop exporting terror and agree to India's template for talks, sources said.

Modi, in his address to the UN General Assembly as well as at the Council for Foreign Relations in New York last week, had said India is a victim of terror exported to it.

According to sources, the Modi government has indicated to Islamabad that it wants peace with Pakistan, but wants it to first create a terror-free environment for it.

The MEA sources also said that a meeting between the Foreign Secretaries or Foreign Ministers of the two countries is also likely to be held to prepare the agenda for the Modi-Sharif summit meeting.

Talks between the two neighbours were frozen after the Pakistani embassy in New Delhi held talks with Kashmiri separatist leaders on the eve of the Foreign Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan last month.
