Aretha Franklin covering Sinead O'Connor classic 'Nothing Compares 2 U' on new album
Aretha Franklin tackles Sinead O’Connor’s classic, ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ on her new covers album.
The song was written by Prince and became a massive hit for O’Connor in 1990 when it was released as the second single from her second studio album, ‘I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got’.
Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics, which releases October 31, includes covers of female artists from Barbra Streisand to Etta James, Alicia Keyes, and Chaka Khan.
The lead single will be Aretha’s version of Adele’s 2010 hit Rolling in the Deep.
The 72-year-old soul legend’s last album, Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love was released in 2011 and was a commercial flop.
This time she has teamed up with previous collaborator Clive Davis, who worked with her on her hugely successful 1998 album, ‘A Rose Is Still A Rose’. She also worked with Babyface and Andre 3000.
