MUMBAI: A
Grant Road resident, Ritesh Sanghvi (26), was nabbed by the city crime branch on Sunday from Parbhani for killing a 52-year-old US
national in
Bangkok in 2012.
A source said that Sanghvi will soon be extradited to Bangkok. His extradition will strengthen India-Thailand ties, paving way to bring back gangster Chhota Shakeel’s aide Munna Zhingada, lodged in a Singapore jail.
According to inspector Shalini Sharma of extradition cell, Sanghvi befriended the victim, Wendy Albano, on a networking site and she arrived in India in 2011 to meet him. The duo got into a relationship. In February 2012, Sanghvi flew to Bangkok with Wendy without informing his parents. In Bangkok, Wendy had booked a room at a hotel. “On February 11, the two had an argument and Sanghvi smothered Wendy before stabbing her with knife,” said the police.
