A large number of members of CITU, AIDWA and DYFI participated in the ‘Chalo Collectorate’ programme on Monday demanding the Government to follow the Supreme Court order delinking Aadhaar card for supply of LPG refills.
They also demanded the Government to continue the subsidy for LPG cylinders in the old manner; supply of 12 refills a year on subsidy and roll back the price hike in LPG refills. AIDWA city secretary B. Padma, CITU city general secretary M. Jaggu Naidu, secretary Y. Raju, DYFI secretary V. Krishna Rao, other leaders like R.K.S.V. Kumar, B. Jagan, M. Subba Rao, AIDWA leaders M. Sujata, DYFI president A. Pydiraju addressed a dharna held in front of the Collectorate.
Linking Aadhaar card and bank account to LPG refills supply added additional burden to the people and this might be a ploy to avoid subsidy in future, they suspected. The decision to collect non-subsidy price for the consumer who have not submitted Aadhaar card number should be immediately withdrawn, they said.
The large quantity of natural gas available in the K-G basin must be supplied to the people of Andhra Pradesh instead of its export to other States, and the number of subsidised refills must be increased from nine to 12 a year.
Later a delegation of the three organisations submitted a memorandum to the Collector with the demands.
