Seven Dials has gained a new resident with the opening of Tredwell’s this month on Upper St Martin’s Lane.  The venue, which is the latest project from Marcus Wareing Restaurants, offers an informal setting for diners to enjoy Modern London cooking. Aptly named after the butler in Agatha Christie’s novel, ‘The Seven Dials Mystery’, Tredwell’s marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Marcus Wareing Restaurants. The project is led by Group Operations Director Chantelle Nicholson, with Andrew Ward heading up the kitchen.  The team hope the restaurant will capture some of the vibrancy of the surrounding area and appeal to the array of people that visit the West End with its emphasis on quality and affordability.

Wareing explains: “Tredwell’s marks the beginning of an exciting stage of growth. I am so proud of the team we have created, and with Chantelle at the helm I am able to allow their skills and experience to drive the project forward, making a mark on the London dining scene. The future of our company is down to the team to create something for their future growth too.”

Andrew Ward takes on the role of head chef at Tredwell’s bringing with him a wealth of experience having trained under some of the industry’s finest chefs including Bruce Poole at Chez Bruce, as well as a two year stint at La Trompette. His menu features British produce at its core with a variety of global flavours inspiring each dish. Dishes include: Chicken liver mousse, bacon, jam, toast; Lamb belly, tomato aubergine curry; and Pork belly, ginger and apple, on a bap. A variety of vegetarian dishes and salads are also available, such as: Charred squash with goats curd, hazelnut and grapes; and Spinach and wheatgrass soup and artichoke. Snacks will include: Crispy prawns with fennel and kimchee mayo, and Polenta fries with smoked tomato dip.  Desserts include: Salted Caramel soft serve ice cream; Chocolate pot with Campari ice; and Coconut, pineapple, mint and lime. In addition, a selection of pots and jars, salads, and bread and buns make up part of the menu.

Tredwell’s also offers a variety of gluten free dishes, including Harissa glazed aubergine, peanuts, coriander and chilli, as well as a selection of vegan friendly items such as The virtuous chocolate brownie.

There is also a selection of cocktails on offer created by Dav Eames, Group Bar Manager from The Gilbert Scott, including: Tredwell's Collins (gin, smoked lemon, soda) and the Penny Farthing (Oloroso sherry, goji liqueur, blackberry). The wine list, selected by Michael Deschamp (executive sommelier at Marcus Wareing Restaurants) perfectly complements the varied menu with the house offering from the renowned Château La Coste in Provence.

Arranged over three floors (lower ground, ground and mezzanine), Tredwell’s is flooded with natural light via large windows, pavement lights and a skylight, creating an airy and spacious feel. The interior features racing green leather banquette and booth seating giving the restaurant a comfortable and welcoming feel. There is a bar area situated on the lower ground floor for pre dinner drinks and the site also features a spacious eat at bar on the ground floor.

Having worked alongside Wareing for ten years, Chantelle Nicholson is delighted to be taking on her latest challenge, she comments: “We are very excited to be part of the buzz of the West End, in particular the niche area of Seven Dials. Tredwell’s is all about offering something for everyone.  It has great food and an awesome cocktail list, with a fantastic team of people on board - it is a lot of fun!” Joining Nicholson as restaurant manager is Nick Skarkalis, who has spent over two and a half years with the group to date, as well as time in Greece and France.

Tredwell’s is open daily from 12pm until late, with a late night licence (with food) until 12am Wednesday – Saturday.
