Boy, 16, arrested after allegedly leading authorities on high-speed chase from Randolph to Boston

A 16-year-old boy from Dorchester was arrested Sunday night after allegedly leading authorities on a car chase that reached 100 miles per hour from Randolph to Boston, according to State Police.

A state trooper ran the license plate of a black Honda Accord on Route 24 in Randolph on Sunday at 11:20 p.m. and discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from a Dorchester resident, said David Procopio, a State Police spokesman. The trooper attempted to stop the teenager, who allegedly refused and led police on a chase with speeds ranging from 50 to 100 miles per hour, he said.

The Honda fled onto Interstate 93 North, but the trooper stopped chasing the car at 11:35 p.m. for safety reasons when the speeding vehicles approached a construction site near Columbia Road in Dorchester, Procopio said.

The boy was later arrested by Boston police after state troopers ended their pursuit. It was not clear Monday night when or where, or how, the boy was eventually stopped and arrested.

No one was injured in the chase, according to Procopio. After the boy was arrested by Boston police, State Police took custody and brought him to juvenile court on Monday morning, Procopio said.
