Rory McIlroy got into the swing of the Ryder Cup celebrations at Gleneagles by donning a Scottish kilt, wig and little else after the emphatic European victory.

McIlroy was in sublime form yesterday, defeating Rickie Fowler 5&4 as Paul McGinley's Europe had five points to spare over the Americans.

As the celebrations went into the early hours, McIlroy got into Scottish character in honour of local hero Stephen Gallacher.

Wearing a tartan kilt and orange wig, a shirtless McIlroy posed with his proud team-mate.

"Got into the Scottish swing of things last night with Stevie G," he posted on his Instagram account.

Some of the American players joined in too, with Rickie Fowler and Bubba Watson taking shining to the Scottish attire.
