Check out the box office collection report of Karthi's "Madras," Vishnu Vishal's "Jeeva" and Sundar C's "Aranmanai."

"Madras"

Karthi's "Madras" took a good opening and is estimated to have earned ₹70.87 lakh in its first weekend at the Chennai box office, according to Behindwoods.

The film, directed by Pa. Ranjith of "Attakathi" fame, has fetched rave reviews from the critics and the audience alike. The performances of Karthi, Catherine Tresa and other new comers have won accolades for their fantastic portrayal of their roles.

The positive feedback should give a relief to Karthi, who has been going through a lean phase with back-to-back failures.

"Madras" is expected to fetch good collections in the coming days as well. However, its box office status will be judged based on its performance for at least two weeks.

"Jeeva"

Vishnu Vishal's "Jeeva" has taken an average opening at the Chennai box office. The film witnessed an average theatre occupancy of 70% and is estimated to have earned over ₹24 lakh in its opening weekend.

Directed by Suseenthiran, "Jeeva" is a film about a young cricketer who dreams of playing for the Indian cricket team. The film, which hit the screens on 29 September, received good reviews from the critics. While the sports drama has ended the first weekend on a decent note, its collections are expected to pick up in the coming days owing to positive word of mouth.

However, the Vishnu starrer will have only a few days to rake in good collections after which the film will have to battle it out with Dussehra releases - Jiiva's "Yaan" and Vemal's "Oru Oorla Rendu Raja."

"Aranmanai"

Hansika-Andrea-Raai Laxmi's "Aranmanai" has sustained well in its second week despite new releases.

The horror comedy flick took a good opening and grossed over ₹89 lakh in its first weekend at the Chennai box office.

The film continued its good run in its opening week by minting ₹11.5 crore nett in Tamil Nadu. "#Aranmanai is a hit, collects Rs 11.5 Cr Net from TN 1 week -Sep 19 to 25. Now into 2nd week, a great feat these days," entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.

Despite the release of "Madras" and "Jeeva", "Aranmanai" has managed to hold its screens and perform well in its second weekend at the box office. It has reportedly minted over ₹2 crore (gross) in ten days at the Chennai box office alone.
