The annual Navarathri celebrations at the Chottanikkara Devi Temple will be held from September 24 to October 3.
Lyricist-composer-singer Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri will inaugurate an art and cultural meeting on Wednesday as part of the ten-day-long celebrations. He will also present a musical programme after the inaugural meeting.
The Navarathri sangeetholsavam will begin from Thursday with a series of music and cultural programmes including music concert, Ottanthullal, Seethankan Thullal and violin fusion.
Dance programmes will be held on all the nine days.
On the third day, Friday, the major programme will be a Gayathri Veena performance by playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmy at 6 p.m. On Saturday, a thayambaka performance by Ananthakrishnan Pallath and music presentation by Rahul Unnikrishnan and team, and devotional songs by Nadam Orchestra, Chottanikkara, will be held.
Pancharimelam Pancharimelam will be performed by Chottanikkara Sathyan Narayana Marar and party, music concert by Mini Tripunithura, Swaranada Samanwayam by Cherthala R. Suresh Pai and thayambaka by Sangeeth Marar and Sajith Marar, Kottaram, will be the major events on Sunday.
On Monday, the main highlight of festival will be the pancharimelam led by actor Jayaram, along with 111 performers, as part of the Seeveli ritual at 8.30 a.m.
In addition to this, a pinnal thiruvathira performance, music programme by A. Narayanan, Chennai, and a Kuchupudi performance by Asha Prajith are scheduled.
On Tuesday, Amith A. Nadig, Bangalore, will present flute recital. Poojavaipu ritual will be on Wednesday.
Peruvanam Kuttan Marar will lead melam. Actor Suraj Venjaramood will present ballet `Kasinathan’.
On Mahanavami day, pancharatna keerthanalapanam will begin from 7 a.m.
Vechur Remadevi will present Kurathiyattam, music concert by Thrukkodithanam Sachithanandan and nadaswaram concert by K.N. Kothandaraman are the other programmes to be staged.
Vijayadasami On the Vijayadasami Day, vidyarambham ritual will start from 8 a.m.
A veena recital by Chithra Subramaniam, Tripunithura, and a devotional music programme by T.S. Radhakrishnaji will be held.
