The kid of “The Karate Kid” is in college. Boston College, actually. Which brought former teen heartthrob Ralph Macchio to town to cheer on the BC Eagles with his son Daniel (yes, the name honors the actor’s role in the 1984 film) against Colorado State at Alumni Stadium on Saturday. The 52-year-old (who doesn’t look a day over 35, by the way) stopped by the Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton Friday morning before heading to Parents’ Weekend at BC. At the Carroll Center, he visited a fencing class and posed for photographs with clients such as Doug White. “Are you still doing any of your moves?” White asked. “If I don’t slip a disc,” Macchio responded. When asked how often he gets requests to do the film’s famous “crane” stance, Macchio said: “About every 10 to 15 minutes. At this point, I only do it on Army bases for the military troops. Otherwise it becomes silly.” Macchio has fans from various generations, from ones who swooned over him as Johnny Cade in “The Outsiders” to those who swear by his performance as Billy Gambini in “My Cousin Vinny.” “I played 16 [years old] for 29 years,” he said. One of the most recent roles for the actor was on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2011 — an experience that prompted him to write and direct “Across Grace Alley,” a short film starring his former dance partner Karina Smirnoff and Marsha Mason. The movie, which tells the story of a young boy struggling with his parents’ divorce, will be released online Tuesday. “It’s 24 minutes so you could actually have a small popcorn,” he said.
