In Amajor crackdown, the Uttar Pradesh police has recovered a huge cache of country-made weapons which were being smuggled from Bihar to Ahmedabad. A woman named Sunaina has been arrested in the case.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the GRP and UP STF personnel zeroed in on Sunaina in UP's Faizabad district. According to the police, the woman boarded the Sabarmati Express from Chapra, where she originally belongs to, and was on her way to Ahmedabad to deliver the consignment.

"We have recovered four pistols, eight magazines and around 90 live cartridges. She was to hand over the consignment to someone in the Ahmedabad railway station. The STF sleuths are still interrogating her in their bid to nab her handlers and the criminals who were to receive the arms", said Indrajeet Arya, a GRP sub-inspector.

The weapons are said to be made in Munger-a district famous for manufacturing high-quality weapons illegally.

A majority of the criminal gangs of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and other neighbouring states rely on these weapons because of their precision and performance. However, Sunaina has a different story to narrate to the scribes. "I am a religious woman and love to visit various temples across the country. However, my husband was not happy with my frequent tours, since I used to travel without ticket most of the times. A few months ago, I met a man who not only bought me return tickets but also gave me some money in lieu of handing over a packet to another person", she claimed.

The woman further added that in her third assignment, she managed to muster some courage and insisted the man to show her the items, but went silent after she was offered Rs 5,000 with a promise that the amount will be doubled next time.

According to police sources, the cops have gathered vital clues from the woman and more arrests and revelations are expected soon.
