Relief for passengers, bus services to TN resume
Senthil K, a resident of Srirampura in the city, had to leave for Chennai on Sunday as he had to deliver medicines for an elder cousin.Unable to get a train booking, he reached the KSRTC satellite bus station on Mysore Road as he wanted to reach some destination in Tamil Nadu.
"When I reached there at 11am, there was a good number of passengers but officials said there was no bus service.
They were cancelling bookings for upcoming days in the week as well," he added. Senthil's effort to get private buses also went in vain as they had stopped services fearing damage to vehicles. s While many passengers k heading towards various des tinations in Tamil Nadu had o problems similar to Senthil, d same was the case with pas sengers heading from the oth er side as there was service in terruption from Tamil Nadu bus transport. Many passen gers in different bus stations of Bangalore were seen wan dering around for a way to move to TN as they had plans for a long holiday weekend ahead.
It wasn't until evening that s relief came when the KSRTC gradually resumed its servicd es. Speaking to TOI, N San , gappa, chief traffic manager, KSRTC, said since Saturday morning they had stopped the service as there was a threat of damage to the vehicles given the tense situation in both the states. "We operate around 314 schedules to TN where buses ply via Chamarajnagar, Kolar and Hosur routes. On an average, 10,000 passengers take our bus service every day," he added.
Sangappa agreed there were lot of problems for passengers and KSRTC has also incurred losses due to stoppage of services. "By Monday morning, there will be normal service," he added.
