Massive search held to make Hyderabad a safer place
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police conducted another massive search for rounding up suspect criminals to make Hyderabad a safe city. Around 400 police officials led by the brass conducted a cordon and search operation in the early hours of Sunday at Nandanavanam, Vambay Colony, Devi Nagar and Junnaram.
The cops took 35 suspects including rowdy sheeters into custody for questioning. They also seized 56 motorcycles, 48 autorickshaws, a car and several bottles of liquor during the raid.
Senior Cyberabad cops said that over 48 suspect criminals were found staying in these areas.
“Some pockets in Nandanavanam are hideouts of motorcycle thieves, burglars, chain snatchers and ex-Maoists. This is also a place where many non-locals from other places in Telangana, AP and other states stay,” said Cyberabad special operations team addl. DCP Ramchandre Reddy.
“The search was conducted mainly to recover stolen vehicles, valuables, weapons and drugs. We were looking for chain snatchers, known depredators, dossiered criminals, burglars and foreigners without documents,” said the officer.
Among the arrested Shaik Osman, 42, and Shaik Habeeb, 53, from Karimnagar are burglars. Another suspect Bangari Srinivas is a wanted rowdy sheeter. Other arrested people, apart from habitual offenders, include people selling liquor and cooking gas illegally.
Officials said the Cyberabad police would continue searches to check crime and to create a sense of security in citizens.
