The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday launched its youth and students' wings, on the occasion of 107th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

AAP Youth Wing (AYW) and Chhaatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) will help the party develop its strength from the grass roots by penetrating into different stratas of the society, under its programme Mission Vistaar undertaken after its severe drubbing in the Lok Sabha, a party insider said.

Meanwhile, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal's daughter Harshita has decided to make her foray into politics by joining the party's student wing the Chhaatra Yuva Sangharsha Samiti (CYSS). Speaking at the launch, Arvind Kejriwal said the wings are an opportunity for the youth to work for the country.

There is a saying that everybody wants Bhagat Singh to take birth, but only in the neighbour's house not in his own. The aim of the wing is to change this."When I passed out of IIT, I was thinking how could I help the country. Today, I give an opportunity to the youth to work for the country. Through this, AAP has also given you a platform for political discussions," Kejriwal said.

The party aims to contest elections in JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia universities next year. The former Delhi CM also exhorted the existing and would-be AYW members to make five promises to the country.
