Couple of days after getting a court notice on the ‘office of profit’ issue, senior Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Azam Khan on Saturday said he would continue to be the Chancellor and founder of Rampur-based Maulana Ali Mohammad Jauhar University till his last breath.

“They have issues with my holding two posts – Minister and Chancellor of Jauhar University. As long as I am alive, I will continue to be the ‘bani’ (founder) and Chancellor. I will not let the enemies of this university to take away even a bit from my rightful property. I would rather seek death from Allah (God), if my mission of seeing the university blossom is not fulfilled,” Mr. Khan said at an event here.

Mr. Khan further said: “I am proudly announcing here that this university will provide education to those who are often asked to go to Pakistan (read Muslims) and to those who are labelled anti-nationals and to those who, if in love, are alleged with practicing ‘love jihad’.”

Notably, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has given six-week time to the Minister to reply whether he can simultaneously also two posts – Cabinet minister and Chancellor.
