GHAZIABAD: Noida businessman Moninder Singh Pandher, who had been in Ghaziabad's Dasna jail for over 7 years in connection with the Nithari serial killings, was released on bail on Saturday evening. He was released after his bail documents were scrutinized and cleared on Saturday.
Pandher and his help Surendra Koli were arrested by the Noida police on December 29, 2006 after remains of several missing children were recovered from the drains behind and in front of Pandher's house D 5 in Sector 31.
Pandher of late had been facing health issues, especially diabetes, said Dasna jail sources. He was greeted by his son and relatives outside the jail.
Pandher had been in Dasna jail for over seven years in connection with the alleged murder and rape of a woman and four girls in his house. The Nithari probe was later handed over to the CBI, which gave Pandher a clean chit in all the cases except one. He was acquitted by the Allahabad high court in one case and was granted bail in five alleged murder and rape cases filed separately by the Nithari residents.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has extended its order putting on hold the execution of the death sentence of Koli till October 29. The court will hear Koli's review petition on October 28.
