Hyderabad: After Chiranjeevi, it has been Ravi Teja who has had to struggle during the early days of his career, to reach the top of the Telugu film industry. And now, he has been at the top of his game for a long time. Last year he delivered the blockbuster, Balupu, followed by Power this year.
The actor says he lets his work do the talking. “I don’t attend parties. After the day’s shoot, I go home and spend time with my family. I never take my work home and neither do I involve my family in work,” says the actor. He has a 12-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son. “They prefer watching films in the cinemas with the crowd and they give me their opinions too,” says Ravi Teja.
he actor adds that a film’s success or failure does not affect him. “I always put in my 100 per cent. Once the film is over, I look at my next, because then it’s up to the audience to decide my fate,” he says. But before Balupu, a series of his films had flopped. “It’s not fair that people wrote that all of my films had not done well. There were a few films like Nippu, Devudu Chesina Manushulu and Sarostaru which were really bad.
But, Veera and Dharuvu had done well. Strangely. people have added them to my ‘flop list’,” says the actor. He also adds that he can predict the fate of some of his films. “There are a few films that I can predict that they may not work out, but at that time we can’t help it. I have wholeheartedly felt that a few will become blockbusters and they have lived up to my expectations.”
Ravi Teja is one of the few actors who encourages new talent. “When I came to the industry, many directors like Krishna Vamsi and Puri Jagannath had encouraged me a lot. Krishna Vamsi is my mentor and I admire him. That’s why I give chances to new directors,” he says. His next, Kick 2, is directed by Surender Reddy. “Shooting is going on and I hope that it will be more successful than the earlier one,” he says.
About the rumour that he could act alongside Venkatesh soon, he says, “Director Veeru Pota came with a story. But he has to narrate the subject to Venkatesh and me. If both of us like the subject we will do it, till then, I am only doing Kick 2.” And talking about his unique dialogue delivery, the actor says, “It all started with Krishna Vamsi’s Sindhooram and since then, I have kept the style. I didn’t plan to talk like this,” he says.
