KANPUR: The call details of Blackberry mobile phones of Piyush Dasani and his alleged paramour Manisha Makhija will soon be made available to cops investigating Jyoti Dasani murder case, director general of police (DGP) A L Banerjee said here on Friday.
On the night of the crime, before taking Jyoti out for the dinner at a restaurant on Parwati Bagla Road in Swaroop Nagar, Piyush had met Manisha and gave her a Blackberry phone.
He had also asked her to destroy the five SIM cards he had given her to converse with him.Banerjee, who had come here to inspect state-of-the-art hi-tech police control room, said: "UP Police had already send a detailed note in this regard to the Central government to procure the call and SMS details of Blackberry mobile phone of the accused. To my knowledge, Centre had forwarded our request to mobile phone company for obtaining the records."
Piyush took Jyoti out to dinner on July 27 night to a restaurant, where he had plotted to get the killers - his lover's driver, Awdhesh, and the driver's aide, Renu Kanaujiya -- to eliminate Jyoti. Her body was recovered from a car parked in Panki area with 14 stab wounds.
The DGP apologized with journalists regarding misbehaviour of DSP Shripal Yadav with newspersons recently: "Departmental action would be initiated against him and he would be transferred out from the city soon," he assured.
Speaking on the issue of crime against women, the DGP asked people to socially humiliate rapists so that they do not repeat the offence."The police is doing its job by sending such criminals to jail, but if the society humiliates them, they will not indulge in the crime again," he said.Over the recent arrest of Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist by Delhi cops from UP border, he said: "But one cannot guage the efficiency of UP police from that."
On question of specific threat from terror groups with festivities round the corner, he ruled out such threat. "Anti-terrorist squad (ATS) and Special Task Force(STF) sleuths are maintaining vigil round-the-clock to thwart such attempts by anti-social elements," he said.On being questioned over the growing incidents of rape and molestation, the DGP said: "Nearly 80% of arrests have already been made in such cases registered between January 1 and August 31. Nearly 100 cases were found to be fake."
