Sidelined BCCI chief N Srinivasan lauds himself as best administrator
Attending the BCCI Working Committee meeting in his capacity as Tamil Nadu Cricket Association president, Srinivasan claimed that if there was one man who has taken the Board to greater heights post Jagmohan Dalmiya, it was Srinivasan himself.
Sidelined BCCI president N. Srinivasan is known for his brazenness, but those who believe Shashank Manohar was one of the most respected and best administrators to have donned the role of Board chief were in for a rude shock on Friday morning.
Attending the BCCI Working Committee meeting in his capacity as Tamil Nadu Cricket Association president, Srinivasan claimed that if there was one man who has taken the Board to greater heights post Jagmohan Dalmiya, it was Srinivasan himself.
A BCCI official present at the meeting told MAIL TODAY that while most members were busy praising Srinivasan, one of the members questioned the reason for the postponement of the AGM.
"Srinivasan was given almost a hero's welcome and while most people were praising him, the Vidarbha Cricket Association representative questioned the decision to delay the AGM - something that has never happened before in the history of the BCCI.
"Srinivasan lost his cool and made it clear that if there is one person who has worked towards the betterment of BCCI after Dalmiya, it is him. Srinivasan is known to be quite brazen and he showed that again on Friday," the official said.
When asked if that meant a direct attack on two other BCCI presidents Manohar and Sharad Pawar, he said: "Well names weren't taken - apart from that of Dalmiya - so that can only be left to one's imagination." The official added that the ICC chairman assured members that the BCCI finances will look up again in the coming year - after there was a fall in profits in the current financial year.
"There has been a fall in revenue and Srinivasan assured all members that one need not worry about the loss as it would be duly covered up in the next financial year," he said.
Meanwhile, Dalmiya - the man who was especially mentioned by Srinivasan - skipped Friday's meeting due to ill health.
"Dalmiya couldn't be present in the meeting as he hasn't been keeping well. It has to do with all the fasting during Navratra. The Cricket Association of Bengal was represented by Biswarup Dey and Chitrak Mitra," the BCCI official said.
