Ramayana in Marathi

Written by famous poet GD Madgulkar, Geet Ramayan is a collection of 56 songs, narrating the Indian epic in chronological order. Singer Sudhir Phadke will put these verses to tune, using Hindustani classical ragas, at a special performance that marks the 60th anniversary of the Geet Ramayan recital.

3 Watch Mani Kaul's Siddheshwari

Siddheshwari, which won the National Award for Best Documentary in 1989, is a complex, avant-garde piece of cinema directed by Mani Kaul. The film tells the story of popular thumri singer Siddheshwari Devi, in nonlinear experimental fashion, which was rare back in the 80s.
