Srinagar, Sept 26: Former Union Minister and president Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz visited flood ravaged areas in South Kashmir -Chichipora (Lalam) Kamad, Anchidora, Anzwalla (Anantnag), Damhal Khushipora, Kokernag, Kanjigund (Homshalibug) where flood sufferers met him in large number and narrated their sufferings.
The people demanded reconstruction of damaged bridges and long term flood control measures to save people of these areas from the ravages of Jehlum and Nallahs like Vishu, Bringi, Romshu, Lidder, Sonaman etc. Prof. Soz realized that the people in these areas have been frightened so much that they do not even want to go back to their homes.
Prof. Soz assured the sufferers that every possible action would be taken to reconstruct their houses and long terms measures would be taken to save the people from the ravages of floods in future.
Prof. Soz gave full assurance to the people that Congress Party would ensure that affected people would receive compensation for loss and adequate relief byway of rehabilitation.
Prof. Soz was accompanied by Gulam Nabi Monga MLC, Vice President,Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Anayatullah Rather District presidents, Farooq Andrabi, Hilal Shah and others.
