Hold open students union election: ABVP

JAMMU, Sept 26: ABVP today organized a student leaders’ conference in Jammu University here which was attended by all the student leaders of the Jammu University, hundreds of students and sizable number of research scholars.
A proposed resolution drafted by ABVP was passed in the conference for the academic session 2014-15. Besides, ABVP also constituted the new body of Jammu University.
Organizing secretary, North Zone, Shriniwas and president DUSU, Mohit Nagar were the special guests on the occasion while the conference was also attended by Pawan Sharma organizing secretary ABVP J&K.
During the conference student leaders discussed the various problems faced by the students within and outside the campus.
While addressing the conference, Shriniwas said that ABVP is the only nationalist organization working for the welfare of the students since its formation on July 9 1949. He congratulated the entire student community and ABVP activists for their win in the recent DUSU elections.
He further said that open elections should be held in JU based on Iyngdoh Committee recommendations as this will develop national leadership among the local youth who want to serve the country. This will also bring transparency and accountability in the system.
He said that students in JU should be provided with same facility as provided in Delhi University because the main aim of these institutions is to provide quality education.
Mohit Nagar said that it was due to hard efforts of ABVP cadre that it created history in Delhi University.
On the occasion, Sandeep Arya (City president) ABVP dissolved the Jammu University Unit of the organization and announced new body with Sandeep Sharma as president.
Madhu was appointed as secretary, Jang Badadur, Anil, Amit and Jatinder were appointed as vice president, Rohit Singh Chib, Abhishek Dutta and Jagpreet were nominated as joint secretaries, Ravi Sundyal and Gurmeet Sharma were nominated as press secretaries and Harsh Dubey was appointed as cashier.
