Senator Troy Balderson (R-Zanesville), who championed Senate Bill 310 (SB 310) (see our April 3, 2014 blog post), will co-chair the Energy Mandates Study Committee, Gongwer reports. Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) appointed both Balderson and Senator Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati), “who pushed aggressively for restricting the law that requires utilities to obtain 12.5% of their electricity from renewable resources and to help customers cut their usage 22% by 2025” to the panel, according to Gongwer. The report also states that the appointments “drew condemnation from environmentalists and Democrats.” According to The Hannah Report, the committee “could decide the future of renewable and energy efficiency standards in Ohio.”
