The actor not only refused remuneration for the appearance in Ring Road Shubha, but gave Rs 101 to the director wishing her luck

It seems like Ring Road Shubha has everything going well for it. The film, which has been in the news for many reasons since it was launched, boasts an ensemble cast. Many top stars have agreed to work in the film for free considering that it is the first film in the country where the entire crew consists of women. Duniya Vijay, who plays the male lead in the film, took only Re 1 as remuneration for the film. The film stars Nikita Thukral and Khusie among others. Last week, actor-director Sudeep sang a song for the film, once again as a goodwill gesture.

Now, this final song for the film has been picturised on ‘Lovely Star’ Prem. Unlike the other stars who took only a token remuneration or worked in the film for free, Prem went a step ahead. After completing shooting, he gave director Priya Belliappa Rs 101 as a token of appreciation and good luck. The song is unique as one actor has sung a song in which another actor has acted. Sudeep has sung songs before and it is mostly for his own films. Prem too has sung a song for his own film a few years ago.

Director Priya Belliappa, said, “It was a nice gesture from Prem. I did not realise what he was doing until he placed Rs 101 in my hands. We know it is a good luck gesture to give someone Rs 51 or Rs 101 when they are venturing into a new business or job. In this case, it was a little different. The actor, who is usually paid remuneration was not only gracious to do the role for free but gave the ‘good luck’ money in return. Our team cherishes his gesture and also the contribution of other big stars who helped us out. This is the first film in which the entire crew consists of women and the support from everyone, including Sudeep and Vijay, has overwhelmed us.”

Among the women crew are director Priya Belliappa, producer Ranjini R Das, music composer Vani Harikrishna, cinematographer Reshmi Sarkar and editor Maryann D'souza. Actors Khushie and Sagar Puranik are making their debut.
